Where does twin come from?

This use of twin was popularized in hip-hop culture and African American English but has contested geographical origins: American rapper and Texas native Sauce Walka claims the Sauce Twinz coined twin, while others argue that it originated in Atlanta or New York. Some trace it to Bloods gang lingo. The term of endearment has since become popular on social media.
